Propeller Club Tampa is a member community in Tampa, Florida that connects maritime professionals, and its Student Port brings students into that network. The club runs its member site on WordPress with BuddyBoss profiles and MemberPress registration, and it plans to grow the Student Port to 50 to 100 students.

Dasinfomedia partnered with the club to update the signup flow so individual members and students join through the same form, collect student details, add a searchable Members directory, and add member tools such as a login announcement popup and a profile photo export.

The Challenge:

The club needed to serve two kinds of members from one website without making the signup confusing, and needed a way for members and students to find each other as the community grows.

Propeller Club Tampa needed to:

  • Keep one signup flow for individual members and students
  • Ask students which school they attend
  • Ask for their major, or what they want to study if they are in high school
  • Ask for their preferred contact method: phone, text or email
  • Ask what their goal is in joining the Student Port
  • Students can show and update their profiles, while members can search the directory by school, major, and other details.
  • Update sponsor logos and show an announcement when members log in
  • Export member profile photos in a single download

The club confirmed a separate directory page made the most sense, since students will want to search for other students and regular members will want to search by school or major once the Student Port grows.

The Solution:

Dasinfomedia reviewed the existing registration flow, then extended it with a conditional student section, mapped the new answers to BuddyBoss profile fields, and built a searchable directory on top of the stored data.

Individual members see the normal form. When a person selects the student category, the student questions appear, and the answers are saved to their profile where they can edit them later.

Key Capabilities

  • Existing signup flow reviewed before changes
  • New Student Information field group created in BuddyBoss profiles
  • Student questions added to the Fluent Forms signup form and shown only when “Student” is selected
  • Fluent Forms fields mapped to BuddyBoss profile fields so answers appear on the student profile
  • Data storage tested in MemberPress test mode, then approved student registrations checked from the student login
  • Student Directory page built with a snippet, listing all students
  • Search filter for school, major and other profile information
  • Directory added to the sidebar menu through Appearance > Menus, renamed to “Members”, with a visibility condition and a link on the dashboard page
  • Login announcement popup, editable from Settings > Member Announcement
  • All member profile photos downloadable as one ZIP file
  • Sponsor logos updated: Bowman replaces DOLE, and OSG replaces McGriff

Business Outcomes:

The updated website gives Propeller Club Tampa a clearer signup process, richer student profiles and a directory that grows with the Student Port.
